Willingness to Take Initiative

The vital and necessary energy to be able to take that step is closer than you think.

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name..” Psalm 100:4

Whenever we light a candle we are mesmerized by watching the fire and the oscillating movement produced by the wind in the flame. Within this mechanism of combustion and attraction, we place the hope that in its light we can have refuge or a healing present that penetrates us and lets us rest for a brief moment. Briefly it will end and be consumed, arriving that moment in which we will have to question ourselves if we were able to take advantage of its illumination and heat to reconnect with our being and with the Holy Spirit. The residue left by the consumption of the fire in the candle is a proof of how time advances in our life, generating a beautiful analogy about the inner fire and what we let fall.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

Just as in candlelight we place faith and hope, a door can be an opportunity to change or to enter a new place (or a place already known and longed for). It is the entrance to this new or known place that enables us to make the decision "to do it or not to do it". It is not only the decision to enter that is important to highlight, but also the fact of staying in the place we wish to enter. The entrance and use of the door reminds us of the fact and the meaning given to the desire to reach or achieve a goal.

Can we impose Faith as a goal? It would not be at all pleasant to take it as an obligation or a merit. The Holy Spirit is valued and felt from a sense of Faith and devotion to our Father. It will not do at all to want to demonstrate our commitment to Jesus by counting the number of hours we attend Mass or pray.

"Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed. 15 But just as all the good things the Lord your God has promised you have come to you, so he will bring on you all the evil things he has threatened, until the Lord your God has destroyed you from this good land he has given you..” - Joshua 23:14-15

To remain in the path of the Lord, glimpsing his greatness and glory is the reward we should embrace for having the opportunity to enrich our lives by the Holy Spirit.

Entering the kingdom of God will elevate us to infinite levels of faith, inner growth and absolute trust in the action and sacrifice of Jesus. His presence will give us calm to deal with the problems and vicissitudes that arise in our daily lives, in addition to having enlightenment in our hearts. To thank and understand others confers recognition to the work of the Lord and will allow us to enter with all our being with greater gratitude to the gates of Heaven. Let us never remain in doubt, let us experience that place and receive the blessing of God the Father.
