Why me? Five reasons why God chooses us.

Despondency often causes us to ask near existential questions. This is one of them, in which we question if we are worthy of the divine love.

" Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Because His love is infinite. This is one of the constants throughout the written legacy that Christ has left for us: the Holy Bible, where not only through His words but also backed by His actions, the Most Holy shows us one page after another that love is the only answer, it is the path that will end up taking us to salvation and eternal life.

“Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for in you I put my trust. Teach me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” Psalm 143:8

Because we are unique and special. We know that nothing is happenstance along the Lord's path, and it is because of this that the fact that He would choose us also does not escape this notion. It is such that we also know that each of us has a special mission in this life, a reason that makes us special in God's plans and grants us a unique profile to fulfill, making us unique as individuals.

“Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.” Proverbs 3:3-4

Because He is our shelter. Having already spoken about God's path and our mission in this life, we must also remember that the aforementioned is no easy task, since it is along this path that we forge our spirit and strengthen our faith. Said paths are plagued by trials that the Lord sets before us in order to support what is to come, and that is why we will only find refuge in Him when we feel we no longer have any strength.

“So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.” 1 John 4:16

Because He is our Father. In the same way that we are His children, He is our father, with all that the word implies. In Him we will find the tenderness that says "I love you", the wise word that always advises you for good, the penitence when He wants us to meditate on our conduct, and the protection that gives us peace in knowing that He will always be by our side.

“And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2

Because He is the way, the truth, and the life. And because it all leads to Christ. Because Christ is love and love is the most pure expression of truth, the honesty of our soul that allows us to express ourselves that way. Therefore it is not foolish to think of love as fuel so that we may gladly walk God's path. Because He is the way, the truth, and the life.
