We may not have the time or strength to consider our true purpose in life. We are surely leaving aside essential issues that concern our Spiritual growth.
Let's dedicate some quality time to our encounter with the Lord. Let us humbly surrender our Prayer to His Eternal Grace and let His Light guide us to rediscover within ourselves the purpose to which He has called us.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
We have all been blessed by the Lord with talents that we bring from our birth. If we were to make a list of all our abilities, we would surely be surprised by the many gifts that our Heavenly Father has gifted us with.
There are many positive qualities we possess that we do not notice. That which beats within us and which, by the vicissitudes of life, we have not been able to develop is the Voice of Christ urging us to rise above that which limits us. Let us always remember that our strength is in the Highest: It belongs to Him, and from Him, it derives.
“To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.” Matthew 25:15
There are different types of Gifts and in this sense, the diversity is remarkable. Each one of them fulfills specific functions, varying according to the personality of the one who exercises them, the geography where it is developed, and the moment that the one who shares them is going through.
However, while the variety of Talents can be considered infinite, they all have the same purpose: To fulfill the purposes that the Lord has for His beloved children on earth. The Gifts that God has seeded in our hearts are also made visible in gestures of character.
That is why it is fundamental not to lose sight of the fact that the Talents offered by the Eternal are to be shared with our neighbors, to contain them, to urge them to surpass themselves day by day, and to bring them the Word of Jesus. In turn, we will be touched by the Love of God through the Gifts of our brothers.
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:7-8
How do we know what our Gifts really are? We could start by asking ourselves: What qualities do we possess that we can be proud of? What things or activities spring naturally from within me and fill me with joy?
Perhaps some have an artistic inclination and have the ability to execute an instrument, write or draw, others will have conditions for construction or carpentry. There will be those who know how to listen, contain and advise. There will be those who are excellent sportsmen while others will have the ability to understand others by being patient and constant. Some will have the ability to pull a smile from their faces from humor.
We must not hide these Talents and put them at the service of God's purposes.
“I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.” (1 Corinthians 7:7
We must honor our Gifts and use them with Responsibility and Commitment. We may feel intimidated when we share our talents because of shyness, fear of failure, or being the target of criticism.
Let's not hide them. Let's use them so that others can see our good works and glorify our beloved Father.
