The Reflection of Self: Verses to Rediscover Yourself

Our values must be aligned with our daily actions. A small guide that will help you grow spiritually.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”. Philippians 1:6

"You look just like your grandfather" "You have your mother's eyes" "Your father used to say that same phrase". Many times when we compare ourselves and look for common spaces with our fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, grandmothers, in short, our entire lineage of ancestors, we look for elements of distinctive characteristics of the family. From some behaviors, as well as physical (genetic) traits.

Others are simply a phrase or an identification such as the famous "birthmark" of the family. Convinced that these types of attributes are what often unite us and guarantee a sense of belonging, we do not really realize that what binds all past generations, as well as future generations, is what can be learned and preserved from the heart.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” John 15:16

Our hearts are the places where we treasure our own experiences and those transferred by our upbringing. The faith of our relatives floods their advice, as well as all the decisions made by them. Their ancestors always looked for the best to move forward, in life often full of obstacles and difficult situations.

Guided by our Heavenly Father, they all repeat patterns of behavior and conduct that were replicated by previous generations. Our entire education, social, cultural, and life context is tinged and protected by the mantle of the Lord. Everything is carried and transported like the pollen that allows a new flower to be reborn. As it grows and develops, our hearts will be sown by Faith.

"And may your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.” 1 Kings 8:61

When it is time to resort to memory or simply to get excited about a situation, it is the heart that commands and guides what happens to us. Obviously, we must also understand that the bad experiences that we have kept throughout our life, end up in this same place. This is why we must free ourselves many times from those evil and negative sensations. To release them to give place to new emotions. New stories that allow us to grow as individuals. That is the only way in which we will be able to obtain a balance in our inner self. By leaning on Faith. Listening to what God has to tell us.

It is precisely our Father who really wants us to change when the pressures and occupations in life torment us. When we cling and anchor ourselves in those feelings that do not let us go on. Taking that perspective will allow us to receive Jesus with a pure heart and ready to live with Him within our being. To truly mutate requires daily commitment to the Word of God.
