The Path to Reconciliation

Reconnect with your loved ones through the path of reconciliation.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2

The work environment, the neighborhood, a group of belonging; at some point we must face some kind of conflict that, with a good predisposition and conciliatory spirit we will be able to overcome with more or less luck. But things are very different when these disagreements occur in the family context. It does not matter if we live together or if the relative in question lives miles away, this kind of problem brings sadness and anguish.

On the other hand, they generate within us an extremely harmful feeling: pride. In this type of instance, the situation arises in which neither of the two confronted parts wants to give the upper hand and in this way the resentment is enlarged, the dialogue is cut off and it is very difficult to recompose the relationship. We must begin by understanding that all families have their ups and downs and that it is necessary to face the dilemmas quickly and positively

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

When we face confrontational situations, it is essential to take a moment to seek balance and humility. This does not mean giving in to our opinions, but it is a way of approaching the other from the Love of Christ's teachings.

Two opposing positions will find a place of harmonious convergence from Peace and Faith in the Lord. Let us keep in mind that the person with whom we have differences is someone we love deeply. It is not a battle to be won, it is a situation that we can resolve. It may happen that, due to pride, neither party wants to take the first step to approach the other. In that case, we should seriously review our conduct in the eyes of God. Let us learn from Him who is "meek and humble of heart".

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Keeping calm is also essential. People, when they are restless, explode at the first provocation. Patient people, on the other hand, maintain serenity of spirit, have the ability to listen to others and have control over their emotions. Patience is necessary when we speak with God or when we read the Holy Scriptures. To speak of patience is to speak of Love and understanding, it is the opposite of anger and resentment.

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” 1 Corinthians 1:10

In this verse, Paul uses a wonderful metaphor that emphasizes the repair of human relationships. At no time does he ask us to settle, what he does ask for is a criterion, a common vision, a balanced meeting point, and a sense of purpose. Continuous conflicts and disagreements lead, irremediably, to failure. As members of the People of God, we are called to be tolerant and understanding. Reaching agreements based on Love and Respect gives us the joy of knowing that we walk with the Lord, honoring His Grace and His Glory.
