February: Forgiveness in the month of acceptance

Accepting and forgiving will be the fundamental pillars to move forward in life. Learn in the following article the verses that will help you in this new month that begins.

"If my people, who bear my name, humble themselves and pray, and seek and abandon their misconduct, I will listen to him from heaven, forgive his sin and restore his land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Forgiving those who offend us, but truly forgiving them, is not an easy undertaking to carry out and, what is more, it implies an enormous commitment on our part, starting with an aspect that sincerely escapes all logic but that, as it is done by the Lord, it is drawn in a mysterious way. Building empathy with those who offend us means putting ourselves in their place so that we can understand what motivated our neighbor to commit this offense. Analyzing this aspect from objectivity, it opposes our logic but at the same time, it makes perfect sense if it comes from God's counsel: Let's just remember how He turned his other cheek to those who offended Him.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-22

Another aspect to take into account and basically because it is something difficult to achieve is to make ourselves as humble as possible to understand the fact that those who offend us are at our same level, and that we, who have free will to To be able to forgive them or not, we are not located above them or in an exclusively privileged place: on the contrary, we are all at the same level. To act in consequence of our humility means understanding that, on the part of the offender, it takes a lot of humility to recognize the mistake made, and on our part, it also takes humility to put aside the offense and focus on our neighbor.

“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39

Because in the end, every answer ends in love: The love with which Christ teaches us day by day by example; the love with which God tells us that he is our only infallible weapon; the love that drives us to go further and become a better person. It is then love in response to the whole legacy with which Christ has blessed us the best, His clearest and most lasting message, the most listened to, and the one that is best transmitted throughout the world. In short: The answer to all the evils of this world.
