Overcoming obstacles

When adversity seems to plunge you into loneliness, remember that you always have someone close by to help you. Open your eyes. Learn in the following article how to support yourself and get ahead.

“So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being.” Deuteronomy 10:12-13

The Fear. Lets remember that fear feeds on insecurities, and many times these appear because we cannot see our hearts clearly, which clouds our judgement. That is precisely when our insecurities are born, the ones that will make way to fear, our number one enemy on our path.

“But those prophets or those who divine by dreams shall be put to death for having spoken treason against the Lord your God—who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery—to turn you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.” Deuteronomy 13:5

The temptations. Overcoming temptations successfully means a spiritual growth and a strengthening of our faith, two great rewards that give us an idea of the caliber of we face when we find ourselves being tempted. This is a matter that should be addressed with Christ's help.

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come out like gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside. I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured in[a] my bosom the words of his mouth.” Job 23:10-12
The doubt. Doubt is a concept that comes from our own insecurities, the ones that manifest within us when we stray from Christ or when we do not go to Him when we need Him, maybe because of the pride of believing we can take on all that we face on our own.

“Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night.” Psalms 1:1-2
You yourself. We often seek out things that make us stray from Christ with external things, but it is also important to consider the possibility that we may be our own enemy. This does not mean that we want to stray from God, but rather that we temporarily suffer from a weakened, faulty spirit.

“Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself any more, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:20-21
The goal. Setting our sight and attention on our goal is not a bad thing. But we must be aware that when we do that, we are straying our focus from the here and now, not paying it any attention and not setting our hearts the right way in order to face the trials that we are facing now. Looking towards our goals is not more important than looking back to see what we have already achieved.

“For I know that after my death you will surely act corruptly, turning aside from the way that I have commanded you. In time to come trouble will befall you, because you will do what is evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger through the work of your hands.” Deuteronomy 31:29
The scam. A scam is one of many facades that temptation may take on. We must always remain alert in order to not be caught unawares, that is why it is very important to constantly remain in communion with Christ, so that we may identify the ruse when it is presented to us.
