Reaching Out to Those Who Need It Most.

Your mission can be fundamental if you reach out to those who need it today. Explore in the following article how to begin a journey with these little souls as they begin their journey.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Explaining concepts related to God to the little ones can be quite a difficult task, but do not despair, remember that children are eager for knowledge and invaded by a natural curiosity that we must continue to nurture. Mainly we will have to try to summarize that God is love and that nothing is more important than love.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” Isaiah 49:15-16

The Word of God: Let us explain to them that the Holy Bible is God's legacy to his children, the compendium of all his teachings, the manual of how to live. We can learn much about God the Father and thus be able to share that knowledge with the little ones we love so much and better prepare ourselves to be worthy children of Christ.

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11

Make it didactic: Activities with children should be very dynamic since we must capture their attention at all times. You can ask questions that all classmates can hear, thus allowing children to share their ideas. You can write the answers on a board, for example, for all to see and thus encourage the exchange of different views throughout the class.

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” 1 John 3:2-3

What did he say: Bible quotations can also be useful in promoting interest. You can choose some of them, represent them through group drawings and hang them in the classroom. Remember that at this early age, visual communication is through drawings, since photographic memory plays an important role at this stage.

“Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.” Deuteronomy 4:40

Act it out: Using artistic representations of Gospel passages will help to increase the children's curiosity about Christ. Involving them in the activities is a very important requirement: they should feel part of the process at all times, thus strengthening their sense of belonging as children of God.
