Overcoming Obstacles: A Leap of Confidence

If you find yourself in trouble or going through a rough patch, don't worry. Find in the following article ways to overcome adversity.

"Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8

All of us, to a greater or lesser extent, have had to go through difficult moments in various stages of our existence.

These are moments in which we want things to change as quickly as possible because the anxiety and anguish generated by our worries do not leave room for the Peace and Harmony that Christ offers us every day.

The pressure is so great that, in general, we look for the easiest way out of our difficulties: we give up, we put a stop to any attempt to improve and we blame ourselves for the negative results we have obtained. The truth is that, beyond the feeling of guilt that overwhelms us or the sensation of "paying" for the faults of others, we must understand that we are simply going through an experience that God knows we can face and resist.

In Christ resides the strength with which we will be able to emerge victorious from all that afflicts us.

“As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” James 5:11

It is well known that most people do not like to wait.

The line at a market, waiting in line at a doctor's office, or being on hold for a long time with a phone call are clear examples of everyday situations with which we must constantly deal. However, beyond the bad mood that these types of instances may generate, we know that they will have an end, that we will be attended by that doctor, that, finally, we will make our purchases; that at some point we will be answered by that telephone operator.

When the problems that afflict us are more serious and deep, we desperately seek to put an end to everything that takes away our sleep and Peace.

We wholeheartedly ask Jesus to guide us to a quick and positive way out that will allow us to regain our lost balance.

It happens that, sometimes, we have the impression that the answers, which we need so much, do not come in the terms we intend.

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.” James 5:7

We must understand that Patience is a Gift of the Lord, but what does it really mean to have Patience?

We could say that it is the ability to tolerate adversity with determination. This means that in order to undertake the path that God has chosen for us, it is necessary to face the vicissitudes that we encounter in life supported by our Faith. This generates in us positive attitudes, capacity for analysis and reflection, overcoming, and clarity in order to find solutions.

Let us keep in mind that the Lord shows us His Glory in life. His infinite Goodness will be reflected in us and in the people we love.

"You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near." James 5:8

Where does the importance of developing our Patience lie?

What we must not lose sight of is that the Lord is working in us constantly. When we take the real dimension of what this Blessing means, we are understanding that, even in our worst moments, God has not said the last word.

The Lord has great plans for us, that wonderful reward that our Heavenly Father gives us is the fruit of the Faith that we show in the most difficult instances.

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4

When things do not go as we expect, we must not lose the motivation to continue trusting in The Lord.

By facing what we do not find a solution to, we open the possibility of living it as an opportunity to strengthen ourselves in the Faith of Christ.

As we regain the Peace we have lost, we can contemplate the needs of other brothers and sisters who are suffering, as we are, from some disagreement.

God is faithful to His Word and will never abandon us. If He does not forsake us, we can be sure that all will be well.
