Living in Truth

To offer advice based on the Word of Heavenly Father in order to move forward on his path of blessings. Discover through the following verses and discover a unique way to get closer to the Holy Spirit.

"The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.” Proverbs 12:15

To learn to listen, we must first begin by cultivating our relationship with God. A good person is not one who gives advice incessantly, but one who listens attentively, beginning by recognizing his or her own spiritual needs. Surrendering our heart into the Lord's hands is essential to receive His guidance.

In doing so, we allow His wisdom and love to fill our being, transforming us from within and preparing our heart to serve others. The Holy Spirit is the fundamental source of guidance and illumination as we seek to reconnect our being with God. If we want to listen to and understand others, we must be in constant spiritual preparation with our Heavenly Father.

This implies dedicating time to prayer, meditating on the Word and opening our hearts to divine influence. In this way, our capacity to offer wise and compassionate counsel will grow, reflecting God's love and guidance in every word and action.

“While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.’” Matthew 27:19

We develop our empathy by connecting deeply with the Holy Spirit and, in turn, with those who come to us for help. Effective listening involves having a real register of our neighbor, understanding their problems as if they were our own.

This means not only hearing their words, but also feeling their emotions, concerns and joys. By practicing this deep empathy, we are in a better position to offer sincere and relevant support. In addition, we can discern how the Lord has worked in people's lives, guiding and healing them.

Thus, our ability to counsel and comfort is enriched, enabling us to be true instruments of divine love and grace, reflecting Christ's compassion in our daily interactions.

“They replied, “If today you will be a servant to these people and serve them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants.’” 1 Kings 12:7

When we offer advice, we should do so as if we were advising ourselves, always passing everything through the filter of the Holy Spirit. Counseling with empathy and faith in God ensures that our advice is aligned with the divine will and does not harm those who seek our help. This approach ensures that our words are sincere and our intentions are pure, reflecting the love and wisdom of Christ.

In addition, it is essential to recognize our own limitations and to seek divine guidance at all times, asking the Holy Spirit to enlighten us and help us discern how best to support others. In doing so, we avoid the risk of offering impulsive or ill-informed advice, and instead provide guidance that is rooted in God's truth and mercy.

This process of self-reflection and prayer not only strengthens our own relationship with God, but also enables us to be effective channels of His love and wisdom in the lives of those we serve. In this way, our actions and words not only help our brothers and sisters in Christ, but also glorify God and honor His purpose for our lives.

"Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:20-21

Maintaining humility is fundamental in connecting with God and others. Putting aside vanity and pride allows us to open ourselves to the sincere and true love of our Heavenly Father. Accepting correction with a humble heart guides us toward wisdom and helps us to live according to God's plans.

Listening and giving advice with wisdom and humility is a task that requires a deep relationship with God and a genuine understanding of others. By cultivating an attitude of empathy, fairness and honesty, and by accepting divine correction, we can lead and be led in the way of the Lord. May every counsel given and received be imbued with the wisdom and love that only come from a Christ-centered life.
