Even at a young age, I was attracted to helping others. I experienced a very strong commitment, a need to be in places where I felt I could make a contribution or get involved in a cause that would benefit others.

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10

When we live life in this way we come closer to the model of Jesus, to how He took advantage of every moment He was on earth to serve others and to give what He had in His heart, love, and wisdom that was foolproof. But it also happens that in the midst of this crusade to live life according to Jesus' model we realize that we are not able to cover all that we would like to, that we cannot help as much as we would like to, and that we do the best we can with what we have, but that it is not enough.

“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Highest, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” Luke 6:35

When we open our eyes to the real world, we realize that what we do is not enough and this causes frustration and discouragement, especially for those of us who are more demanding of ourselves, which ends up disillusioning us and mechanizing what we do.

It's true when we don't get to do the things we would like to do, or we can't help all the people we would like to, we are taking the work away from the Lord, who is supreme per excellence. It's like I have to understand that I am only His helper and that He is the architect of everything. It's not up to me, it's up to Him.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

If there is something we must accept, it is that we will never be able to help all the people we would like to, nor will we be able to touch all the lives we want to, because we don't do it, God does it. And yet, Jesus was never anxious because there were places He did not get to visit, He had to choose where to go, who to talk to and at what time.

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:10

We can do our part, God will take care of everything for which our body, time and life is not enough. Let us not stop doing what we can, but let us not get frustrated because it is less than what we would like, we cannot help everyone and we cannot be everywhere at the same time, so when we have the possibility of making a difference in the life of at least one person, let us take it as the greatest task and crusade we have to do and thus we will be contributing to this great task that God began and that He Himself will finish.
