Don't Let Loneliness Leave You Out

Going through the moments when we feel lonely will help us find a path enlightened by faith. Know the following verses that will help you to ease your pain.


"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him." 1 John 3:1

In these challenging times, many brothers and sisters find themselves facing the trial of loneliness, a reality that has intensified with the pandemic and associated restrictions. In this lonely journey, it is crucial to remember how to come to help and not succumb to emotional exclusion.

Have you ever felt that emptiness, the sense of being distant and excluded? This feeling of traveling the road in complete loneliness is a deceptive perception that can plunge us into depression, sadness and hopelessness. However, let us remember that our Lord is a God of relationship and community; we were designed with that very nature in mind.


"Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins." Psalm 25: 16-18

Those most affected by imposed loneliness are our venerable seniors. In addition to facing vulnerability to the pandemic, they find themselves deprived of close contact with loved ones. Grandparents who long for the laughter of their grandchildren, miss the company of family and friends, and are limited in activities as simple as going for a walk. This prolonged isolation causes them fatigue and sadness, affecting their quality of life.

Let us remember that the elderly are an essential part of the Christian community and society, representing the roots and memory of a people. It is our responsibility, as sons and daughters of God, to counteract the loneliness of our elders. Let us call them, listen to their experiences full of humility and patience, pray with them, and let them know that they are never alone, it is crucial to remember how to come to their aid and not succumb to emotional exclusion.

There are clear signs of loneliness: persistent tiredness, difficulty falling asleep, sudden desires to cry and longing for an embrace. At these times, quarantine can become an opportunity to understand our divine calling: to connect people to the Word and Glory of God.

Loneliness comes not only from a lack of external contact, but also from internal disconnection. Appreciation of faith is crucial to establishing a deep spiritual connection with Jesus. When we stray from the path of faith, we experience a sense of isolation. However, remembering that we are always receiving the blessings of the Lord and the Holy Spirit brings us deep companionship.

Let us remember that as children of God, we are always moving forward together with Him. We are blessed by His mercy and His presence is constant in our hearts. In those moments when loneliness threatens, let us remember that in the Lord, all things are possible. He will never abandon us.


"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

In our faith, we find the strength to overcome loneliness and move forward, confident that we are accompanied by the everlasting love of our heavenly Father. 

Each God-guided decision in our day-to-day lives allows us to experience moments of personal connection and trust, where we can pray and place our destiny in the Lord's hands. Thus, we understand that loneliness should not have existed in all this time; rather, we forget that we have never been alone on the road. Divine companionship has always been present, waiting for us to recognize and accept it.

Today, let us shed feelings of loneliness and isolation. Let us relax our muscles and smile at the life the Lord has created for each of his sons and daughters.

Let us give affectionate hugs and allow ourselves to be hugged. Let us connect with those who really know us: our loved ones who want to help us. Let us not push them out of our way. Let us re-immerse ourselves in Bible reading and daily prayers, experiencing the unique companionship that faith offers us. In this connection with God and those around us, we will find the balm that dispels the false sense of loneliness.
