Cultivating Patience

How important it is to develop the Gift of Patience in our relationship with God?

People who cultivate Patience are absolutely different. They are brothers who show mastery over their actions and emotions, imbuing their environment with Serenity, Balance, and Spiritual Peace.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2

How patient are we really?

We must understand Patience as a quality that does not surrender to any circumstance and does not yield to the difficulties of a test. It is important to incorporate this virtue as part of our character.

It is not something that we can easily handle, that is why it is necessary to cultivate it and practice it every time the opportunity presents itself since we will have to put it to the test against provocations and insults. Patience begins to be practiced in the simple things of our daily life. For example, if we are repeatedly interrupted while we are studying or working, we cannot let this disturb us in such a way that it puts us in a state of negativity that completely annuls us and we stop doing what we were doing.

It is true that nobody likes to be interrupted, but the loss of Patience is a sort of blindness that takes away our Peace and Serenity of Spirit since this negative attitude generated, grows at the same time that moves us away from the Teachings of the Word of God.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Another way to eradicate impatience from our lives is to respect our rhythm of life.

This means imposing our priorities on the needs of today's world when it asks us to act untimely and swiftly. It may happen that we need a report, a note, or an immediate confirmation to continue with our activities.

We cannot let this make us nervous and distressed. There are many and varied signals sent by the Lord indicating that it is time for a pause, to regain balance and harmony to undertake, from those feelings and values, the tasks that have been entrusted to us.

Because when we make the wonderful decision to walk together with God, we understand that things will be done at His pace and with His values.

Let us not let ourselves be invaded by nervousness and overcome obstacles from the Love and Grace of Christ.

“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8:25

There are also situations where we carry a great weight on our shoulders and we feel that no one can understand what we are going through. Taking into account the seriousness of the case, we might think that we are correct but the reality is that the Lord is aware of everything that happens to us and understands perfectly how we feel. When we are in a desperate situation, all deadlines seem short and it is logical that we lose patience.

When these cases occur, we must trust more than ever in the Perfect times of the Lord since He is constantly working in us for our own Good.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

We also have a responsibility to contain our brothers who are suffering from impatience disorders. The joint reading of The Word of God, the Power of Prayer, and Faith will again open the eyes of those who cannot calm down and our work will be done. The rest is taken care of by the Lord.
