6 divine tips to deal with difficult situations

When was the last time you think about the difficult situations you live with God?

Ask the Lord for patience.

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,  and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” Proverbs 16:32

We must not forget, even for a moment, the power of healing that resides in prayer. That is why, in our prayers, we must include that the Lord bless us with a special dose of patience. It is our shield in this battle and means withstanding temptation and not giving up our spiritual peace (which represents all the work we had to do to achieve it) to the destructive nature of anger.

Do not return an offense.

“Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27

Entrusting our spirit in prayer will not be enough when faced with a situation where someone offends us. That is why it is important to remember that we should not respond to an offense with aggression. It is common knowledge that a problem could escalate when anger is added to the mix. Remember that it is not an easy task, but luckily we have God's love and help to assist us in overcoming these moments.

Pray before reacting.

“He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.” Proverbs 14:29

As difficult as the concept may seem to us, it is extremely important to say a small prayer in any moment when our first impulse is to respond with another offense. In the same way we are advised to count to ten, we as children of God must pray, thus invoking the divine protection that will allow us to overcome those moments. Keep in mind that not only will we be avoiding the temptation to attack, but we will also be praying so that those who offend us do not make the mistake of doing it again to other people in the future.

Try to understand those who offend you.

After praying for those who attack us, try to understand them. That is the only way you will be able to understand what it was that led them to commit the offense. Let us not forget that understanding our neighbor is how we can really help them, asking God to bless them with the healing effects of His love, giving them the necessary strength so they do not succumb again to the temptation to offend.

Love whoever offends you.
“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman.” Proverbs 21:9

Even though at first it is a difficult concept to understand and almost impossible to achieve, we must understand something very important, passing through a situation in which someone offends us and reacting the way God would react allows us to grow as a person. Not with hate but with love, not with a closed fist but with an outstretched hand.

Turn the anger into love

“Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.” Psalms 37:8

In the same way that God has transformed your life in every way you can imagine, we must also do the same with any negative feelings that try to emerge from within us. We must do justice to the perfect love that characterizes God, taking it proudly into ourselves and passing it on to whoever is within reach of our prayers. Become a spokesperson for the Lord by transforming anger into love.
