5 Reasons to forgive those who offend us

Many times we receive offenses or mistreatment and we can not forgive and accept differences. These words will guide us on the path of forgiveness .

“He who forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter alienates a friend.“ Proverbs 17:9

Because God taught us that we should love one another. The divine law by excellence, the purest legacy of love with which Christ blessed us.

Not only leaving it set in the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, but endorsing His words with actions. Let us remember to strive a little more every day  to cultivate the virtue of forgiveness and to love our neighbors unconditionally, both those who love us and those who have offended us equally.

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Because to forgive is to understand, and to understand is to love. We need only to cultivate the virtue of empathy, which will guide us on the path of understanding.

Only then will we get to put ourselves in someone else's place and understand what motivated them to cause the offense. Through a truly sincere repentance we will get a glimpse of the threshold of true forgiveness. And there is no other way, what we really need to understand is our neighbor's nature, since by understanding their nature we will be able to forgive them.

“Forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” Colossians 3:13

Because if God, in his perfection, has the humility to forgive us daily then we must do the same. Because that is the only way we will honor and glorify the Lord.

To remain active in the path of God means a constant effort in fighting against the different obstacles that will give us new virtues, those that will serve as weapons to fight selfishness and overcome it through forgiveness.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 1 Chronicles 7:14

Because by forgiving we grow as a person. Through the sincerity at the time of accepting repentance, the doors of true forgiveness are opened wide.

In this manner we experience growth at a spiritual level, which will be reflected in our individual life experiences, and this will result in our growth as good people. Let's grow today by forgiving those who have offended us.

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37

Because the power of His message spreads. Keep in mind that not only is it important that we can accept genuine forgiveness, but it is also our task as worthy children of God, to share His message and reach as many people as possible.

Let us think of all those who have not yet received the word of God and picture how the presence of the Lord could change their lives.
