5 Habits that will make you a better person

1) Be yourself

“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”

2 Corinthians 9:10

One of the best pieces of advice my grandfather gave me was "be happy, that's your mission". At first I did not understand what he meant, but while getting closer to God I began to understand that the important thing was not my happiness in itself, but everything I did to become happy.

The road was in front of me, the sum of all those little things that would bring me to a full happiness walking the path of the Lord.

2) Love will always be in first place

“To lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:10

Our Heavenly Father teaches us a lot in the sacred scriptures and constantly reminds us to love our neighbor, but what does it really mean?

It means setting aside our pride and reaching out to those who need it; it means generating empathy with our brothers to really feel what they feel and in this way create pure feelings from the heart, but most importantly it is putting the teachings of the Lord into practice.

3) The mending of being grateful

“Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrines of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,” Hebrews 6:1

We always go to the Lord because He is an inexhaustible source of love, trust, and help whenever we need it, but it is also important to be grateful.

Let us remember to be grateful at all times for those things that the Lord gave us, in this way we avoid focusing on those things that are still missing and think about everything that was given to us. Being grateful makes us more humble and accepting of the love of God.

4) The path of forgiveness

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

Perhaps one of the most difficult things to learn on our path is how to forgive and learn to recognize forgiveness.

When we receive an offense, it touches the  deepest part of our pride,  feeding the seed of numerous negative feelings, thoughts that, without realizing it, take us farther away from the path of the Lord. Forgiveness is not easy but not impossible, and the satisfaction of being able to forgive is rife with the love of God.

5) Continuing the legacy of faith

“We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.”

2 Thessalonians 1:3

Once we begin to notice the changes that the Lord was has made in our lives, it is our turn to bear witness.

It could be said that it is our duty to take His word to those who need it, but I prefer to talk about wanting to share our joy with everyone and letting the whole world know about it. Remember that we are a living example of the transformation that God's love provides.
